SC2 Waterpark

SC2 is Rhyl's flagship attraction and the single largest leisure investment the town has seen in decades. It cost £15 million, opened in 2019 on the West Parade, suffered significant storm damage in late 2023, and reopened in summer 2025 after a full refurbishment. It is, by any measure, a genuine asset.

What's Inside

SC2 is an indoor waterpark — which matters enormously on the North Wales coast, where the weather rarely cooperates with outdoor swimming. The main features include a series of flumes and body slides of varying intensity, a wave machine, a splash zone aimed at younger children, and Ninja Tag, an active play zone that has become popular with older children and teenagers who find the water slides insufficient.

The building also includes changing facilities, lockers, a café, and viewing areas for parents and carers who prefer to watch from dry land. The overall standard of facilities is high — SC2 compares favourably with similar waterparks elsewhere in the UK.

After the Storm

In the winter of 2023–24, severe storms caused structural damage to the SC2 building, forcing an extended closure. The subsequent £4+ million remediation and refurbishment was completed in summer 2025 and the facility reopened better than before. The closure was a significant blow to Rhyl at a sensitive moment in the town's regeneration; the reopening was a corresponding boost.

Visiting

SC2 is popular and advance booking is recommended, particularly at weekends and in school holidays. Tickets are available online or on the door (subject to availability).
